One of the great challenges for effective and convenient online services is to create technical and organisational interoperability. This includes the integration of business processes across several levels of added value as well as the compatibility of IT systems with the programmes and data exchange formats used.

For the European Commission, ifib, together with partners from the Netherlands and Greece, identified and documented more than 30 cases of successful interoperability for different administrative services in Europe. Most of the case descriptions were discussed on workshops. Supplemented by cases that won a prize in the framework of the eEurope Awards for E-Government, the descriptions can be searched by subjects and keywords in a database developed by ifib (External linkhttp://www.egov-iop.ifib.de).
