paducation - iPads in Education
In the beginning of the school year 2011/2012, each of the 70 pupils of grade 11 of the joint senior classes of the Kurt Körber secondary school in Hamburg-Billstedt and the district school in Oejendorf got an iPad, which they can use until their final examinations in the middle of 2013.
Paducation focuses on mobile learning. At first glance, a device like the iPad provides the necessary features for it. The special feature of this project is that each pupil permanently gets a device of his own and can also use it in his spare time outside school. Thus each pupil is responsible for the device, its availability and its operational readiness.
ifib monitors the project from a scientific point of view. This work is embedded in the project "Development of a Pedagogic IT Strategy for Schools", which ifib conducts for school authority of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
